I am no longer a tutor at the university because I am not a registered research student and I don't have a PhD.


Needless to say this is a bit upsetting.

OMG -- this is ridiculous! Who told you you couldn't be? NONE of the tutors last year had completed their PhD's. What kind of nonsense is this?
Is Carol nor Julia nor anyone else able to help you? Do you need Eamonn to 'call out the boys'?
